About Our Client

Our client is a fast-growing new startup with around 30 staff, headquartered in Hong Kong and built upon a strong financial-services backbone. The firm focuses on M&A activities and invests heavily in cutting-edge AI and high-technology projects across the region.

Job Description

This is a newly created senior role designed to support the firm's rapid expansion in AI, technology investments, and cross-border M&A. Operating as part of a newly formed strategic & organizational enablement function, the position integrates HR Business Partnering, organizational development, talent development, and strategic research. Although based in a back-office structure, the position is deeply connected to the business, acting as a strategic enabler rather than a traditional HR role.

1) HRBP Responsibilities

As the firm's senior HRBP, the role partners closely with investment leaders, the Strategy Head, and business stakeholders to support organizational performance, culture building, and workforce planning. The Head will shape HR strategy, drive culture alignment across a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, and strengthen people operations for the Hong Kong office. Responsibilities include advising senior management on organizational design, providing data-driven insights on people and performance trends, and supporting talent acquisition priorities in collaboration with the Talent Acquisition Manager. The role requires strong logic, clear thinking, agility, and the ability to influence a "fast paced AI-driven" organizational culture. Candidates with financial services, fintech, big-company IT or tech backgrounds, exposure to AI environments, and the required open claw competencies are strongly preferred.

2) Learning, Talent Development & Performance Management

A major focus of the role is designing and driving talent development and performance excellence across the firm. This includes establishing structured performance management frameworks, building internal leadership pipelines, and creating training programs aligned with the firm's long-term strategy. The Head will play a pivotal role in developing and operating programs similar to internal "Rising Star" capability-building models, covering selection, development, rotation planning, and evaluation. The position oversees learning needs analysis, competency frameworks, succession planning, and mentorship systems. It also supports project-based development for staff who engage with portfolio companies, ensuring they grow the skills needed for deep organizational enablement in the AI and technology investment space.

3) Market Mapping & Organizational Research

The role includes a strategic research component to support senior leadership in understanding competitive talent trends across the AI, cloud, technology, and investment ecosystem. This involves mapping key players in China and Hong Kong, studying organizational models of technology leaders, and identifying high-potential talent pools. You will build a small research team to gather intelligence on market movements, benchmark structures, and competitor capabilities. This insight supports business leaders in major strategic decisions and ensures the firm stays ahead in talent, organizational capability, and industry direction. The unit acts as an internal think tank that combines HR, strategy, and organizational insight.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate:
  • University degree in Business, Finance, Technology or HR with 10-15 years of relevant HR experience, ideally from sizable Financial Services, Fintech, or Technology firms, with strong passion and knowledge in AI. Experience working with Chinese firms is an advantage.
  • 8-15 years' exposure across HRBP, Organizational Development, Talent Development, or Strategy roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute strategic organizational initiatives with strong analytical capability with a data-driven decision-making approach.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to lead workshops and deliver clear insights.
  • Proactive mindset with focus on innovation and continuous improvement, strong strategic thinking paired with disciplined execution.
  • Logical, detail-oriented, fast-paced, highly responsive, and hands-on, open-minded, adaptable, and flexible to evolving business needs.
  • Fluent Mandarin required; CV must be submitted in CHINESE and ENGLISH.
What's on Offer
  • Competitive annual base of $1-1.5mil with attractive bonus structure
  • Opportunity to build your own HRBP, OD and Market research team.
  • A permanent position with excellent career growth prospects.
If you are passionate about driving strategic organizational change in the financial services and Tech sector, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding opportunity.
