Legal Officer
Global Asset Management Firm | Hong Kong
Salary: Up to HKD 50,000 per month
About the Role
Our client is a well‑established global asset management firm with a strong presence in Hong Kong. They are looking to hire a Legal Officer to support the legal and regulatory function, with a particular focus on funds and SFC‑related matters.
This role is well suited for candidates with legal training or legal working experience in the funds or financial services space, who are looking to build a long‑term career in an in‑house asset management environment. Legal qualification is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the legal team on day‑to‑day legal and regulatory matters relating to the firm's asset management business
- Assist with reviewing and maintaining fund documentation, offering documents, agreements, and internal policies
- Provide support on SFC‑related matters, including regulatory filings, licensing support, and ongoing compliance requirements
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (investment, operations, compliance) on legal and documentation queries
- Coordinate with external counsel on specific legal or regulatory matters when required
- Conduct legal and regulatory research and assist in responding to internal or regulatory enquiries
- Support ad‑hoc legal projects and initiatives as the business grows
Requirements
- Legal education (LLB, JD, or equivalent) or relevant legal working experience in financial services
- Prior exposure to asset management, funds, or SFC‑regulated environments is required
- Experience from an asset manager, fund administrator, financial institution, or law firm funds team is preferred
- Legal qualification is not required
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage documentation and multiple workstreams
- Good communication skills in English and Mandarin
- Proactive, hands‑on, and comfortable working in a lean in‑house environment
