Obidience test

ORIGINAL POST

Heya,

I read on threads here that a dog under 20ks doesn't not have to be leashed if it can pass an obedience test.

Is this true and if so where would one take a dog for the test.

Thanks

Dogs under 20kg don't need to be kept on a leash anywhere in Hong Kong. All that the law requires is that dogs must be under control at all times when in a public place.

There isn't a test that they have to pass. you just have to have them under control. So if your dog is obedience trained it shouldn't be an issue.

Dogs weighing over 20kg must be securely held (by a person) on a leash of not more than two metres in length (or securely tied to a fixed object on a leash of not more than 1.5 m in length in a manner that does not pose a danger to public and animal safety, and welfare of the dog). (Dangerous Dogs Regulation (Chap. 167D).

Dogs of any size are allowed to be off the leash in country parks (but must be kept under control, as above).
