Are dogs allowed on ferries?

I'd like to take my dogs to the beach when winter's over.

Dogs are allowed on most ferries in Hk, but I think they require them to wear a muzzle, however there are not a lot of public beaches allow dogs on them.

Dogs are allowed on most ferries except the star ferry between HK and Kowloon. They can go on any of the following ferries - Discovery Bay, Lamma & Park Island. They are only allowed on the ordinary (slow) ferries instead of the fast ferries for the following - Mui Wo, Cheng Chau, Peng Chau - so always check the schedules before you go.

The dogs will need to be muzzled as well.

As for beaches, it's ok during off season when there are no lifeguards but it will get difficult. My experience is at Shek O beach, the guards are pretty lenient as long as your dog stays around the edges of the beach. You can also check out the Power Station beach at Lamma Island. It's open to dogs all year round.
