Hi I'm a single mom of a gifted 7 year old boy (math, reading, science interests). He's a very enthusiastic, well mannered boy, articulate funny, and with a sense of justice beyond his years. He's pretty lonely though.
Would love to find similar-minded children and moms in Hong Kong... I'm sure you're out there! Our kids will learn a lot from each other...
I'm in Discovery Bay and would love to come out to meet you or have you over (DB is great for kids!)

dear Chuffchuff, I think all Mums (including your trully) think that their kids are well mannered, articulate and funny, etc - so it is a tough one!!

I'm looking for parents of gifted children in Hong Kong ie kids who are way brighter than and work at grades above their peers. If yours is one as is mine, we should definitely meet...

I can say my kid is gifted too.....he is only 16 moths when he start to play golf with his plastic golf club( he got it as present from his 1st birthday), now he is 21 months and he can swing very well a P wedge iron, and he watch PGA tour on golf channel, and amuse himself into Golf magazines.
But I guess this is kind of different gift?

Chuffchuff, I have two gifted boys, age 9 (in 5th grade) and 7 (in 2nd grade). They are always above grade levels. The 9 years old started reading all by himself when he was 3 and half, and the 7 year old 4. The 9-year old one finished Johns Hopkins University's gifted children program's 6th grade level math last year, and the standard test results of his reading says his level is above middle school. 6 months ago, when we applied for schools in HK, the reference letter from the school reading specialist for my 7 year old says his reading level is at 6th grade. All children are gifted, in a way or other, but I guess your son is just like my boys, are particulary good at reading and math. If you'd like, we can get together and talk about things. I have read a lot of gifted children education books, and I have a B.A and a M.A in education also. Please send me an e mail. Thank you.

Thank you Shakira and Lily, for your posts...
Some of us are big enough to accept that children can have different abilities. For instance, I accept that although my son loves soccer, he'll never be a soccer pro, but there are some exceptionally skilful kids out there who might! I'm not sure my boy is as big a genius as 9 yo March is though an educator with gifted children experience suggested he might be a highly gifted boy (140-160).
I felt that might be an exaggeration but my son's problems aren't getting any easier with age and I feel like I should be more proactive. He loves being with kids but can't seem to keep his expectations of them reasonable. He's putting off a lot of kids but doesn't understand why. His social skills are poor despite him being such an articulate communicator and sensitive soul.
Lily how can I contact you?
