I am looking to move to HK and have a couple of teaching jobs that I am particularly interested in. I have 9 years of teaching experience and I'm currently Head of Department. Could anyone please tell me what salary I could expect to receive with this experience. One School is suggesting a figure of up to $50,000 HKD per month.
I would need to keep my house in the UK as my partner wouldn't be joining me straight away if I decided to move. Could I realistically afford to do this?
I would also like to know if Holidays are paid by the schools in HK as they are in the UK or do you simply get paid for the months you work.
Many Thanks

you'll have to ask the specific school. many schools post their salaries on their sites.if you send me an email address i can write to you more confidentially since i don't know how the private messages on this site work!

salary depends on the school.
schools like international schools that offer salary upon the point system is best. like the more experience and accreditations, the higher the salary.
if you're looking to teach kindergarten.....pay is quite low.
local schoools also have NET scheme. ltos of schools offer subsity for boarding and transportation. so like i said already, it really depends on teh school.
with the pay you are being offered, it's enough for rent and stuff. but that also depends where and how big you're looking to live.
in hk, everythign is money. you can get extremely ritzy, or you can live comfortably, or there's also dirt cheap. so really, in the end, it's just what u're looking for that sets teh standard of whether 'is it enough?'
