Hi does anyone before that have a kid goes to tots and toddlers in Shueng wan? my kid used to go there and then they closed, they said they will close for renovation, since October 2006, but until now they havent contacted me yet if they are already open or not, I tried to call there many times but there is a guy who always says they will call me back, email also doesnt work, no reply at all.
Anyway, I was looking for something like they have there before, not so expensive but its also a fun place for kids to meet other kids and babies. Please give me some tips. thanks guys!

I know of tots and toddlers cos i used to live down the street but like you, I get vague answers from a guy re re-opening. He said they will be moving elsewhere but frankly, from the tone of his voice i deduce that is not gonna happen. Have you considered YWCA playgroups? They have many branches and are more reasonably priced compared to others.

hi mummybee1, I just contacted YWCA, and I am very interested, I will be receiving a brochure from them for the next schedule. Do your kid goes there too?
About tots and toddlers, I am so upset about that becuase I paid 20 sessions for my child, he only used 11 sessions, so that means my money gone down the drain. I just used to go there before becuase I know the former teacher. I just hope they can have the decency to tell me that I dont need to wait anymore.....its been almost 7 months that I am waiting.

Abby78, I think that is precisely why he was vague abour re-opening!!! In their website, they did say existing members would have special priviledges but perhaps it is just a ploy. I also heard from another mum that their business wasn't doing well, so she was doubtful they will re-open.
Do you know of the case with Rumpus Room closure and many, like you, are stuck with unused prepaid coupons (in another baby forum website that I cannot mention)? They wrote to the owner and managed to get a refund. Perhaps you would like to call the man again, this time threaten him with legal action, and see if you can recover some money.
Yeah, I do send my child to YWCA playgroup. We have one set up, bvlieve it, just downstairs of my apt complex in Tseung Kwan O. Terribly convenient. And I like the structure of the classes - pay month-by-month (ie can pull out anytime), they will never go bankrupt, and max of 10 kids per class - perfect! The teacher, I must say, is not the greatest (I can do a better job, I reckon!) but my 18-mo daughter is far more interested in the other kiddies and the huge mirrors on one side than sitting in a circle. I did sit in for 5 mins in one class before enrolling my child - just to check it out. Maybe you want to do that?
Let me know if you need any info!

Thanks mummybee1, you are very helpful. I already have brochure from YWCA, and I will be there on Tuesday as well for the Bazaar sale at the same time check on the schedule for next term, and I think that will be May. I am amazed with their programs, they have a lot. And it sounds fun. I think I will just bring my son there becuase we live in Hong Kong side.
I also hope I can get my money back from tots and toddlers.

Hi Cara, I know you are now, but if you can give me some information of whom to contact there will be helpful, I can't even talk to the guy who answers the phone there because if I ask about the tots and toddles he right away say " leave your number someone will call you back" and he just hang up the phone.
Well Thanks anyway for your reply.

Abby78, glad to help!!
Regarding YWCA enrolment, not sure about your branch but the one in TKO has a queue one mile long to get in ('cos they only allow 10 max per class), so ask the staff the status of enrolment. I was extremely lucky to get a slot as a mum cancelled at last minute and till now I don't understand why they gave me the slot rather than those in the waiting list (probably cos I was physically present with my kid when the other mum cancelled). A friend recently enquired and she was told the earliest slot is in August!!

mummybee1, I think in Central the activities will begin by May, the schedule of each term is quarterly and the term now end March. I will be bringing my son on Central, but have check the schedule becuase we are leaving town by end of May. I still hope I can find a good playgroup for him now. I just want something that he can enjoy and will not cost a lot of money too. And I saw YWCA have reasonable prices.
