Film Legend Charlton Heston has died.
why not "has dead", isnt it a present particple should be used after "has'?

Nonsense!!
There is no such thing as a present participle! In the present perfect it is has/have + past participle so has died is correct.

To simplify it a bit, you can say he:
-is dead,
-has died, or
-died
If you're confised try substituting other verbs.
is eating, has eaten, ate
is running, has run, ran
is sitting, has sat, sat
etc.

yup, exactly cara, I was trying to expand on your 1st post. :P
if one wonders whether a word is a verb, adjective, etc, one can try substituting in other words from that catagory and if it works then it can help to clarify.
