Hi Guys,
I have a question and I hope you all can help. I want my girlfriends daugther here in HK. She lives in Manila for the moment but I dont want her away from her mom. I only have a limited budget and so does she to pay for international shooling. Does anyone know the level of schooling is in Hong kong? Is it possible to get any scholarships being an XPAT child. Hope you can help or she will have to move away to Canada to give her daughter the education she needs. Btw "our" daughter is 11 years old..

She is here on a working visa. Working as a manager for a chinese company. If she cant show adequate means to support her we have already talked about marriage which gives a 2 household income. Which should be adequate!

try the ymca in kowloon. they have a newly set up school which teaches in english and charges hkd1,000 per month. (my friends 13 year old daughter who is bilingual attends. she highly recommends it). sounds just what you're looking for. good luck

Think carefully about this one as it could mess up your relationship. I know that sounds mean spirited but if the child is happy and has a good social support set up in PI. ie grandparents, aunts, uncles etc you may actually be doing him/her a diservice. Your money would go at lot further in PI and I believe there is less pressure for parents to directly parent children in PI than in the west. My filipino ex gave up the kids to me and was only really affected by the guilt brought on by misguided but well meaning western locals. Just a thought and I'm not saying I'm correct but watch for subtle cultural differences.

Also PI is only a short flight. eg long weekends etc.
