I will be moving to HK at the end of Jan with my 3 year old son and my 1 year old daughter. We found a place in Discovery Bay but will only move there mid Feb when our furniture arrives from Switzerland. My son will probably start kindergarten in March which means I have at least a month to kill and was wondering if anyone of you have a suggestion of where I can bring both my kids starting in Feb already. i.e. Are there any playgroups that can cater to their age groups and preferably one that has a little bit of a program rather than just free play all the time.
We will be living in Central before moving to DB so preferably places that are not too far from there will be ideal... in case we do continue to attend even after we move to DB, the commute will not be too much then.
Thanks in advance.

Swiss,
There's a new children's club in North Point called qq club. Here's the website: www.qqclub.hk
Hope this helps.

Yes, the Rumpus Rooms is in Central, and will cater for 6 month - 36 month baby/toddlers.
There is a link on this page.

Many of the classes will give you a free trial class too, including, Panda Junction, Gymboree, My Gym and Kindermusik, which gives you a chance to get oriented. I'm not sure if Music Together does, but that would be far for you coming from DB anyway. With Kindermusik, I've heard that the classes taught by Catherine (the owner) are much better!

One more idea, which may or may not be interesting to you depending on which part of Switzerland you're from, but there is a German Speaking Ladies Group (google for their website) which has a mother/toddler group.
Incidently, is there a forum like this in Switzerland (Zurich)? We may be relocating one of these days....

Hi My Thoughts
Thanks for the info. I met Catherine I think, she lives on DB too right? Will definitely check that out. As to your question, there definitely are lots of discussion groups in Switzerland and they are really great :
Families in Zurich : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Families-in-Zurich/
Expat mums in Swtzerland... I personally love this group :
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Expat-Moms-In-Switzerland/
They also have expat in Zurich I believe. Anyway, they are all yahoo groups and you can find them when you do a search on yahoo groups site.
When are you possibly going? If you need some advice let me know.

Thanks Swiss! Things are still tentative for us, but we are expecting sometime this Spring. And you'll be here by then, so maybe we could get in touch when you get settled. Are you in Zurich now?
Hope the move logistics go smoothly for you and your little ones. There're lots of things that are nice about being in HK with children.
(oh, sorry, I don't know where Catherine lives. We've been going to Music Together for the last year and a half)

Hi Swiss
Here are some of the playgroups located in Central:
http://www.mygymhk.com/
http://www.gymboree-hk.com/
http://www.pandajunction.com/
http://www.kateskids.com.hk/
I can thoroughly recommend My Gym in the Centrium Building on Wyndham Rd, Central.
Actually, Panda Junction is located in Admiralty.

You definitely want the toys washed properly too. A friend of mine who works for http://www.excellent4kids.com/ was telling me the other day about how children can constantly pick up bugs from the other children in daycare centers just because many of them don't wash the toys. It's a good thing to check out when you are deciding on a place.
