I am a mum with an 18 month old girl who has allergies to many foods, including eggs, wheat, milk, pork, apple, etc. Wonder if there are other stay home mums out there with eczema kids interested to meet and share tips. I live on Kowloon side, Tseung Kwan O, near clearwater bay.

HI Mummybee1,
I have 2 kids - both with allergies! My daughter had allergies to milk, eggs, fish and peanuts. She is now 3 and only the nut allergy remains fortunately. My son is 1 and has a severe milk allergy (we found out when we ended up in hospital!). We live on Hk island in the mid-levels.

Sorry sammy for late reply cos I forgot about this thread. : )
Would love to meet up, except we live sososo far away from each other. I used to live in midlevels but moved to TKO hoping the fresher air would improve her condition.
Tell me abt hospitals! my daughter ended up in hospital for her egg allergy when she was 4 months then again for a *stupid* insect bite on her ear at 1 year old. The traumas we have to go through eh.....

So is the air any fresher in TKO?? Any improvement? Must confess that we only moved here about 6 months ago and I've actually no idea where TKO is!! I've found that since we moved here we've ALL developed asthma esp the little one. Just what we needed! We've already made 2 trips home just to suck in some clean air and get ourselves healthy again!! Poor kids!
We eneded up in hospital at about 4 months too, with the milk allergy. My poor mother in law gave my son his first sip (just one) of formula whilst I ironically had my daughter back at the allergy clinic for a retest before we moved over here!! How's that for crazy! I had actually made an appt for him there to have him tested before we left. Quite a story to tell when we went in the following week!

ohhhh yes the air is definitely better here. TKO is 2 MTR stations out from North Point on kowloon side. My previous apt in Central overlooked TST and it was depressing cos I saw smog every day. My daughter called out 'bird' and 'dog' the day we moved here (never saw any animal in Central) and caught wind with her fingers. Her eczema is also better, but not sure if it is to do with her growing out of it or the environment. Whatever it is, we were glad we moved as the greenery and air here are so much better for all of us.
I saw your thread on coffee and cake. wish we have "met" earlier. I love coffee+cake. No good recommendation though except probably Pacific Coffee. I liked to go to the new one on Hollywood Rd, not as crowded, spotlessly clean and my daughter never got a flare-up there.
Which part of Australia you from? I am from Melbourne, well I live there for a long time (originally Malaysian). I did bring my daughter back to suck in some clean air too when the heat became unbearable last August. Her eczema dramatically improved. Thinking of doing the same this year.

Sounds much nicer out there! We are in the mid-levels and look out on the smog! Probably close to where you used to live from the sound of it!
Pacific Coffee sounds good! Will check it out. If you feel like an outing one day let me know and we can do coffee and cake!
We are from Sydney. Been to Melbourne a few times on hols and really liked it there. My husband wanted to move there for a while actually. Never been to Malaysia but spent a bit of time on the Phils where my husband comes from. Think another trip back sounds like a wise idea....especially since we've only been back here for a few weeks and we're all sick again with the flu! Gotta love that pollution!!!
