My son who will be in Grade 11(ESF school) has been asked to undergo a 5 day job training in the area of their interest to make sure that the subject they choose for GCSE are the ones they will really want to pursue in future.

Although the school is offering few positions, they are mostly teaching students in ESF school which my son is not interested in.( he is interested in finance sector, he wants to try in an office for training)...While the parents of many of his classmates have arranged for their children, am unble to find anything for him..

What shld I do? Whom shld I ask help ?

All advices are appreacited

Help your son to send his own CV (with cover letter) to a few finance companies. It will be a good learning experience for him too -- ie, job hunting, self-promoting, etc.

I shudder to think what they expect people to arrange for any kid who wants to be a doctor or dentist.

Why not apply to the ESF head office for your son to work with their Financial Director (Kendy WONG)- I believe he used to be with HSBC and he is responsible for increasing the ESF's finances.

I wonder if parents can apply for a week's fee refund?

Maybe they can add it to the weeks fees we should get back in October when they shut the schools for challenge week.

I was actually being serious about working with Kendy Wong - he is a very experienced investment banker and very good at what he does.

It might also be worth placing an 'ad' in the school or PTA newsletter as other parents may be able to help - there must also be other kids having similar problems finding a placement.

Good luck with it anyway.
