I am looking for classes for my 3 year-old to learn Mandarin Chinese. She can understand Mandarin but does not speak much due to little exposure. Can anyone recommend any art classes or activity classes taught in Mandarin. The YWCA does offer one but the time doesn't work out for us. I am looking for other places that may offer similar classes. Thanks in advance.

Hi cvuonglee,
there is a new Mandarin-school opening in Central (Wyndhamstreet) in May. They offer different courses (playgroup, story, drama, creative) for different ages.
Their website is under construction at the moment but you can call or email them and they will send you the programm.
I did a Mandarin-course for adults with them and liked it very much.

earlymandarin's teacher Ms. Linda was one of parent from Kids Land few years age and she used many Mandarin Lyrics made by Ms. Hwang. I think she shouldn't do that if she is a good teacher.

I found this cosy place in Happy Valley called Sunkids! My older one takes an arts & Crafts class taught in Mandarin and the little one attends playgroup. They absolutely love it and the teachers there are really friendly.

Hi Gabbie,
Hopefully you're still reading this post...
I checked out sun-kids on the web, looks interesting.
Do you think it's enough just to send my 17-month-old to a Mandarin class for one hour a week - or is that not enough for learning the language? I mean, she's never learnt Mandarin before and nobody in the family speaks it!

Hi Slammy,
Sorry for the late reply! oh you will be really surprised they learn so quickly! I was so pleased when my daughter started singing Mandarin songs within a few weeks! The teacher uses a lot of body language, different props and sings a lot of songs. it's good fun! i think they offer free trial classes! maybe you could start her off with 1 hour a week and see how she goes!! The bonus is that you will also get to learn with her!

my girl is going to the Bambini Republic english playgroup and mandarin playgroup, i think is good, nice environment, very native english and mandarin teacher, and the best thing i like is they provide progress report after each lesson and their class only put 6 kids max in a class, normally there are only 3-4 kids in a class, very focus and can learn a lot.
I know they do provide free trail lesson and 20% off for first time. my girl is nearly 3 yrs old, if any of you would like to try, you can call them and ask for a free trail class or i can help you to book it.

Being a mom of 3, I have been sending my children to Better Chinese for the past 5 years. I particularly like the teachers’ quality there. They are all certified to have authentic Beijing accent. Their teaching approach has a very good balance of learning through fun. The other benefit is Betterchinese’s curriculum. My kids go to HKIS (Hong Kong International School) and IMS (International Montessori School), they’re all using BetterChinese curriculum. Thus, Chinese is easy for them in their regular school since they have already been learning them since they were 1 year old. MSL took over the center from BetterChinese last year. Fortunately, they kept all teachers and made improvement to the interior of the center. My kids have a mini performance on the stage every week when they go to Chinese. MSL also introduced holiday camps which my kids love. Overall, I’m very happy with my kids going there. you can find them on http://www.facebook.com/mslcenters
