English teacher considering move to Hong Kong

Hi everyone!

I'm an English language teacher thinking of moving to Hong Kong and wondered if anyone could offer any advice? I have a BA and MA but neither are in English or Education and I've noticed that this tends to be a requirement for NETS. However, I do have a CELTA qualification and almost three years teaching experience, one in Korea teaching monolingual classes and two years in Dublin teaching a wide range of levels, exam classes etc.

Thanks in advance!

Now is the time to start applying for NET positions. Just apply and see if your qualifications are okay. You can get all the information you need at the education bureau's website.

You may contact the The Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) to check if the qualifications you held are equivalent to the local teaching awards. The website is www.hkcaavq.edu.hk. Hope it helps !
