Hi there,
we live in Sai Kung/Marina Cove area, and I work full time, so am worried about my little boy being bored over the summer holidays!
Having done a quick Google, it seems there's not much on offer, and what is available is quite pricey.
Are there any existing playgroups he could join mid -week? He would be accompanied by my helper, and his 8-month old little brother. If not, any interest in setting up one?
Sai Kung, Clearwater Bay and Tseung Kwan O area would all be fine.
Thanks!

Playgroups are great, but as I teacher I can say Summer Playgroups are just a money racket. Often the classes are over crowded and the teachers are overworked (pretty much like everyone else in Hong Kong).
I would reccomend an art class or something sporty, either option are more likely to be lightweight and fun.
As to where I'm not so sure, I would have thought most special intrest centres would be offering Summer courses, they are all more than eager to make extra money. So, choose carefully, I'm sure you will. And consider if you really want your child in a group with lots of other kids, especially with how rapidy the HIN1 virus is now spreading.

Thanks for your kind advice, yes I know it's a bit risky to have him mixing with other kids with the virus alert on, but I can't bear the idea of isolating him all summer just incase! Life must go on. :)
Agree that most summer playgroups are a waste of money, so if any of you guys have kids around the same age (ideally 2-5 yrs) and want to improvise a small, free, weekday playgroup, we could simply rotate houses and take turns providing a simple snack.
I have already had one response from a mother who lives in Kowloon Bay, her baby is just over a year old.

There is a 'Smart learning' centre at Marina Cove. They have mandarin classes, music, etc.
Otherwise, there's the Sai Kung PPA, etc but they would all be shut due to the 'flu.

Thanks everyone, really appreciate all the advice. I will look into the Sai Kung PPA, as I'd heard mixed reviews about the Smart centre. Am also in touch with the guys at the Sai Kung Community Centre but all the info's in Chinese! Would love to get him enrolled in swimming classes as he's a bit water shy.

There is a new playgroup in the Sai Kung area that has Summer Programs. It is called Sweetpeas Playhouse and is in Man Nin Street, Sai Kung. Their Summer Program starts on July 13th until mid August. There are 2 sessions per day - 9-11am for 1-3 year olds and 1-4pm for 3-6 year olds. There are only a maximum of 10 in a group. Give them a ring on 2792 5888 or 9502 0896
