I will be moving to HK soon. At the moment I am teaching conversational english (private and groups) in a private language school in Singapore. I am not a certified teacher but I do have experience and good recommendations from my current school and students. Are there lots of language schools in HK? Do they take teachers without certification? And if so what range of salary is realistic?

If you're on a dependent visa, you should be OK, but you wont get your own work visa without qualifications. As a dependent, you may as well teach privately anyway, more money & flexibility.
There are tons of language schools here, but the better ones might not hire you without a TEFL, regardless of the visa.

If you have a BA in anything, you're better off. However, getting a visa in English Language Teaching is easy. The local company needs to prove they need to hire you because they can't get a local to fill the position. As most HKers aren't Native English Speakers, it is relatively easy to get a visa. You need to work full time though. And for only one company. I would check the SCMP. If you get a job at a language school or kindergarten I wouldn't accept less than $20,000 starting full time.
