Hi
I am wondering if anyone has had an ovarian cyst removed through laparoscopic surgery and who if anyone can recommend a good, well skilled gync/OB for the operation.
I have just recently been diagnosed for having a fairly large ovarian cyst and was recommended to go for laparoscopic surgery.
My gyna/obs have reassured me that it is a quick and safe curgery procedure. I have since then looked it up on the net and have found large number of women with recovery time far longer than anticipated and most had pains after few weeks of surgery that their doctors did not prepare them for.
I am really scared and am not from HK, therefore do not have enough knowledge of gync/OB available in HK.
Any help and advice will be much appreciated. Am due for the Lap surgery next week and am not sure I should go ahead with my current gync/OB.
Thanks.

Hi, I'm not sure whether or not my reply is late. You've posted in the wrong section so maybe that's why you didn't get an answer ;-)
To answer your question, I had ovarian cysts removed about 1.5 years ago at the Union Hospital. Two of my gynaes did the surgery - Dr Lok Yee Ha and Dr Tung Hiu Fong. You could try them. They did a great job with me. The incisions were very small and recovery was quick. I think I only felt pain on the first day and that was because they pumped air into my stomach. Both doctors are also extremely caring and the level of care was excellent at the Union.
Don't worry, it is a quick and safe procedure.
Good luck.
