IB Middle Years Program

I've noticed that there are only about 5 schools offering the IB Middle Years Program (Years 7 and 8 in secondary school). Can someone tell me why more schools aren't adopting this?

Kids do the PYP in years 1-6 at primary school and then have to go back to sitting behind a desk, following a text book for 2 years and then go back to the IB diploma program for the rest pof their years at secondary.

Strikes be as being very odd and very unsettling for children.

A retire teacher told me the middle years programme was the weakest part of the IB, but seems odd to me to do 6 years, then do GCSE's (in the case of the ESF) then switch back to IB. Why???
