Need some independent advice here as I'm confused as to which road to go down.
I'm a stay-home with a PGDE, and have been applying for various teaching jobs. As my children are still young, I don't want to commit to a full-time teaching job. The other choices available to me right now are supply teaching and tutoring. I have been supply teaching on a few occasions, and tutored privately in the past.
Here's my question.... with supply teaching, I find it very ad hoc and don't feel prepared beforehand, nor satisfied with my teaching at the end. Also, as I'm quite new to teaching, it's not easy to pull things from the top of my head to teach at such short notice. Maybe I'm not cut out for this line of work, as I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Am I normal to feel this way?
Would tutoring be a bad road to go down in terms of career-wise? One day my children will grow up and I'll be able to work full-time again. Will tutoring look bad on my resume?
Any advice from teachers/tutors would be most appreciated. Thanks!

I don't think tutoring looks bad, esp. as you have valid reasons. You might want to try get a few hours and keep them within one or two days, so you still have some free days for supply, just to keep your name out there. Also the tutoring will help your confidence and help you build up ideas for those last minute supply days. Good luck!
