We came Hong Kong this Feb, 2011

Now, she goes to grade 2.

So, she is yet struggling with English.

She has a english tutor 2 a week.

Other than that, she has nothing. She used to play in the playground whole day.. in my country.

Now..she has no one to play with.

Everybody has something.. learning something..

But my daughter is too tired to learn..

She is just too tired and wants to have someone

to play with..

I just can't find a FRIEND.. in Hung Hom..

Laguna Verde.

And.. how long does it take for a kid to speak

and read english ? I mean like native..

I just can't push her studying this and that..

everyday...

I just want to hear other mom's story..

how they SURVIVE a day with their child..

Someone told me to move to DB island to have

english friend to improve her english!!!!

Is this..the only way....? this is too sad...

This is not what I expected for Hong Kong life...

Stella, do you get to the Laguan Verde playground much? I live in a big complex & when we first moved from another district, my daughter was 18 months & we met a lot of friends at the playground. Do you ever pick her up from school? Maybe you can meet other parents- though more likely helpers... you don't say where you're from, but is there a a group you can meet through your consulate? There are French/German/Spanish speaking groups etc here.... I think Cara's being a bit harsh- HK is supposedly an international city & I don't think it's too much to hope for, to find friends who speak English.

Maybe school can put you in contact with other mums- is there a class parent? Hope things improve for you!

Thank you for providing me your answers.

I do accept Cara's view & Sistim's view. And, I found an answer lately.

That is... I need patience and efforts.

Maybe I was expecting too much from my girl. I will work out slowly with

my daughter to learn English in fun way.

Thank you! Good night!
