Most Summer Schools are not run or taught by the schools themselves but by third parties or separate groups attached to the school. Harrow is run by Harrow Enterprises which is a money making arm of the main school. The quality of the schools does vary although the standard tends to be good on the whole. When you are looking for a summer school, look at the programme itself as this does dictate what types of students the summer school attracts. For example, Marlborough College has excellent interest classes which can be attended by both parents and students. There is a good academic programme at Wellington run by a third party which offers pre IGCSE and A level classes if your daughter wants to study. Sedbergh School in Cumbria is hard to go past for sports camps (rugby and hockey) and they also have a Dangerous Camp which is basically outward bound activities. I had a student who went last year and loved it. Many of the schools are outside London but do incorporate day trips. I hope that this is of some help!
