wow, they are almost the same age. Mine just turned 3 this month. She's studying at an english speaking school here.
Am absolutely against the local schools, sorry and pardon me but no offence, they teach English using Cantonese, not to mention Maths or Science.
Am shocked at first but have gotten over it and somehow accept that this is the culture here.

There are lots of english and international schools here. The choices available are depending on your location. I would recommend ESF and SIS.

And remember to stock up your favourite spices and sauces and chillies... there is virtually none here... i mean none is the same or equal anything back home.
The curries here are all sweetened sauce, the noodles are basically msg soup with menial meat and vege, and also forget about nasi padang here. I haven't find any nasi padang here. And our favourite laksa costs hkd 48-68 depends on what they put in. And only one or two restaurants sells "edible" singapore/malaysian food, else, the rest you might want to forget about even knowing any.
Sorry if I sound pessimistic about food here, many said HK is food paradise, after being here for few years, I still went back home and load few boxes of items back here..

I will arrive HKG on Dec16 late evening on SQ2. Will not have access to computer for the 1-2 months. However I will try to log in to communicate with you all using the internet access within the serviced-apartment (if any).
We will be putting up in a serviced-apartment for the 1st month. Will take our time to pick an ideal unit. Will make a trip back to SIN to ship our stuff over once our "new home" is found.

hey shimmrs! good luck with the move. its not easy esp with a toddler. as for kids stuff, depending on what you are looking for. for cheap stuff there is "Fa Yu Gai" in Kowloon, its like masar malam, there are also some nice stores in Times Square (on a high floor)for kids' clothings. I am sure there are many other places..but not many of these places are stroller friendly..

Shimmrs, yes i am staying at Verde Tierra. I rented it last year when i'm back from Indonesia. My husband worked aboard, he has been staying outside most of his time. We rent here is because i stay here by myself throught out my whole pregancy w/o anyone helping, so we need to find a place convinence for me to buy things and because i dont grow up here, i am quite easy to lose myself. He..e..e. Other than that i like my surrounding with green rather than blocks of building covering up.

I just employed a maid to help me out, this is the second one I hired, the first one was from indonesia, i can tell you she is really lousy. lots of things to handle at home, and tell you one thing, the HK law do protect the maid more than spore, you have to be aware of that when you want to employe one here. Tsuen wan is near Tsing Yi, just a few stations away from MRT and w/in HK$30 by Taxi.

I'm a Singaporean mom with 2 boys (5 y.o. and 18months) + one more coming soon in Nov.
We have just arrived in HK from Seoul 3 days ago and still looking out for housing. Anyone with advice on Belcher's and Bel-air - especially the cons - because we liked both places, but hope that we have not overlooked anything.
Also, any of your children attending the Singapore International School?
