We are an American family coming to Hong Kong soon with our two children – a girl in 2rd grade, boy in 5th. We want a school with an American curriculum where our kids can meet other English-speakers. I have looked at the website for the American International School but I’m worried cause I can’t find any recent reviews of it. Can someone tell me about what it’s like now? Thanks.

I'd suggest you consider Int'l Christian School if you're fixed on the US curriculum. Very few schools in HK offering the US curriculum - why not broaden your search given the limitations you are facing?

Thanks for your suggestion but I am not interested in a school that involves religion.

We have two kids in AIS for the past 2 school years. We find it to be a great school. Their teachers welcome parent involvement and always make themselves available to answer our emails etc. which I find very helpful. There is a good mix of kids from many cultures, which the school fully embraces with their yearly culture fair. Please let me know if you have any specific questions, I would be happy to help. Good luck with your move.

Hi - this seems like a slightly older thread. I am trying to seek info on AIS with focus on Year 1. I have seen more negative than positive news around AIS on various forums. Have also heard that the school curriculum is academically rigorous, is that true?
There aren't that many native English speakers and that mostly students converse in local language inside and outside the classrooms. Not sure how correct this info is. Would appreciate your feedback on AIS around these specific points.
