i am currently working full time (not teaching) have done some one to one english teaching in the past - private tuitions and would like to get into teaching full time. Have a degree (not teaching related) from UK. anyone know about PGDE courses in hk - anyone done one - i see that if you do part time (which owuld be best as im working) you need to be a teacher already - anyone got round this issue?! which course is best and anything i should look out for? hoping ideally to teach kindergarton - hopefully in ESF schools eventually....

i'm currently taking my PGDE. I'm not a teacher but i got in. There would be some interviews and during the interview you can tell them your situation. But sooner or later you still need to get a teaching post. They will visit you in your class and observe.

talking of PGDE at the HKU, can someone please tell what the hours are like? i am looking to do the full time course to teach English but am unsure as to whether to take the course due to the hours.
i have two small children and probably won't want to be doing 9 months of lectures 5 days a week, from 9 - 5!
any idea on the time involved would be greatly appreciated

I'm in a similar situation to squiggles...... I've just been accepted at the HKU to study the PGDE, but need to consider the hours before accepting. I have a young child too. I want to do the full-time course, but I'm really concerned about the hours I'll be expected to put in. Anyone else managed to do the full-time course, and be a reasonably responsible parent too??

hi Tay Tay, could you plz share your experience in the written (English) test and interview? What type of questions were there in the written exam and interview? What is their criteria of selecting the candidate?

Hello urssweety, did you ever get any answers to your questions? In particular, have you received any information regarding the interview and what is involved?
Thanks.
