Hello!
I am trying to set up film screenings (of the latest blockbusters - nothing too high brow!) which we can take our little ones along to (as well as all the usual paraphernalia - prams, bags etc etc).
The plan is to have the lights on a little so we can feed, and English subtitles, just in case there's some crying (to be expected and not always from the babies!).
It's likely that it will be on a weekday afternoon at the Directors Club in Tai Koo Shing (just a few stops from central on the MTR or there's plenty of parking and a mall if you fancy a spot of shopping or lunch first).
If you are interested can you message me your email address, so I can get in contact with you when I get a date and film sorted (Robin Hood is looking likely for the first one).

Just a clarification: two things:
1. PM me your email address if you want to be added to the mailing list for the Mother and Baby Scream!ngs
2. These films are for the Mummies to make us feel a bit normal again and to give us something more that feeding/sleeping/pooing to talk about!! I am assuming the babies will be young enough not to be watching, so the films are not going to be aimed specifically at a young audience. That said, it's not like we're going to be watching slasher flicks, but it's not Disney either!

Hello!
Just to let you know - so far this has NOT been possible.
Palace IFC allude to technical and logistical problems that mean that they can't do it.
AMC Pacific Place never get back to me despite calls, emails, and going in in person
The Directors Clubs say that you can go and take your baby with you to any screening, but you have to pay for the baby. Would this actually work in real life? I'm not sure, but I have an email that says you can....though if I was a normal customer and there was a crying baby in the cinema, I wouldn't very happy!!
Let me know if anyone has any other ideas!

You have to pay for the baby??? That's crazy! Baby doesn't even take up a chair.
I thought you could rent out The Director's Club for parties, etc... I don't know how they charge for this, whether it's a flat rate. Sounds like it's "per person", however big or small.

Re: The Directors Club, Taikooshing:
House bookings ensure a night of exclusivity. Bookings can be made up to three months in advance and an evening can be tailored specifically to suit your needs or desires. The Director's club may also offer you a unique cinematic service of past mega movies. An extra amount for film rental on the top of the normal house booking fee is required. The extra amount being paid would be subject to the availability of the film & the decision of the film owner.
The basic house-booking fee is HK$2,800 (16 persons), each patron is entitled to have *free flow of soft drinks, tea, coffee & popcorn & an additional one serving of hotdog.
Book out the entire house, select foods and beverages from our existing menus, or for those who are looking for a little more such as lobster and caviar or a specific vintage wine-all can be arranged in advance.
Browse through our past ideas section and match your own ideas with upcoming releases.

So I guess the "16 persons" includes babies?

Yes it does - I checked with them, so it would be $350 per mummy and baby - if you filled all the spaces.
I also asked if they could do a discount if we didn't go for the free popcorn etc as 50% of the audience wouldn't be able to utilize it, but no.
argh!

Oh well. It was a good idea.

AimeeJ, have you had any more luck with this? I was going to mums & bubs movies in Oz and would love to do it again here, I can't believe how backwards HK can be when it comes to mums and babies. Anyway, I think this is a fabulous initiative!

No, sorry no joy, most places said no, those that were ok said the babies would have to pay full price (and whether it would have actually worked when you turned up there might have been a different story....) My baby is too big now to sit in his pram still for any length of time, like when he was a newborn, so it's out for me anyway!
HK can be VERY backwards when it come to do with anything baby related as I suppose it's easier to leave them at home with a helper, if you have one. What is available is very formalised (run by terms, lots of learning etc).
The playgroup at the Matilda is nice and low key if you can face the ride up, and I hear good things about St Stephens in Stanley. I'd like to know more about drop-in type playgroups, but there doesn't seem to be that many about.
