Hi there,
I have a 8m old baby boy as most parent in HK, i am forced to think about his schooling options already...
I think i have done enough research to understand the options available (international vs esf vs local)
I still have one question unanswered - how important is pre-k (2-3 year old) for a child's chance to get into a good a primary school?
Should we go to an independent playgroup/pre-k or should the toddler attend a pre-k affiliated with a established international school?
Your thoughts are most appreciated

It all depends on your preferred primary school. If a particular kindergarten offers priority entry to its students and that kindergarten has PN (2-3 years old), then it makes sense to do it.
You may also prefer to do PN for exposure to a minority language or simply a little more structured learning if both parents are working.
HTH.
