Schooling for nearly 3Yr Old. New Move to HKG

Hi, We are about to move to HKG in May or June and are utterly confused on how to go about planning this. Some say get school first and then house, and others say find house and then try for a school nearby.
One thing that has been common is, SCHOOLING - Both Choices and Admissions are tough.
We would be looking for a good International school, with the hope of not moving our son around. I know he is only 2years and 3 months currently, but we have been warned to start searching and applying YESTERDAY !
All advice on schools and procedures would be well appreciated. (Both housing and schooling)

Thank You

Hi,

Not sure if I could help but here's my little piece of advice -

I believe you guys should first determine which part of Hong Kong would you be staying, like on the island side or where, cos most I-school located on the island side and if you guys are not staying there, it may be a bit far for your kid to attend school there.

For schooling, you can start with reading reviews on schools by the EFS, there are lots of I-school under this foundation, yet be careful that if you are planning to let your kid to stick to one school from year 0 to year 12, mind their reputation. Some of my friends in those school said their peers got drinking and drugging problem, so suggest you to really go throuhg the reviews and parents' comment.

As for housing, please see if you guys are gonna stick with renting or buying flats, and try to see which district would you prefer. Sometimes info may not be available in english and if you can't read Chinese, you may try to browse those sites with Google Translate (at least you can get an idea of what the info are).

If you need further advice on the culture, daily lives or anything about Hong Kong, feel free to let me know, you can always reach me at asfm09@gmail.com

Last but not least, welcome to Hong Kong :)

Best Regards,
Jennifer
