For want of a better place - such as an education forum, I just want to publicly state the head of School of the Australian Int'l School HK - Sue McMillan had her last day at the school yesterday after a very short notice period (3 weeks).
It was publicly declared that it was her decision not to renew her contract expiring in April, however, with such short notice and no replacement it is speculated that she was requested not to renew by the school board. Of course this is heresay, there may be a perfectly reasonable explanation for her to exit so fast. You probably won't read this in the papers (partic. the education post)
So for those looking at the AISHK for schooling for their children - don't despair, positive things are happening and it can only get better from here.

Umm... the head's going, there's no replacement, so "positive things are happening". Are we to infer that Ms McMillan was not your cup of tea?

There will be a replacement in 2007, and the board is taking its role more seriously than previous, and has become very proactive in the welfare of the school and who leads it. As I see it - things can only get better with this sort of leadership, and added to this, Ms McMillan was not my cup of tea as a leader of the school. I am not sure she will leave many friends behind.

Given that you say we "probably won't read it in the papers", to whom was this "publicly declared"?

It was "publicly declared" to the school community.
