Planning on being in HK sometime soon.
Need to get the daughter in school.
*We don't have large quantities of money, not enough to afford private/international schools.
*Daughter can speak/undersatand some Cantonese
*Daughter can speak/understand Mandarin (pretty much fluent for her age)
*Somewhere near Lamma Island.
Any ideas where?

Ha. Yeah. Then how about "close enough that my daughter is not spending half her day traveling to and from school."
Of all the things to consider, the distance is not as important as the quality of education.
The issue I am most worried with is a school that we could afford that will provide a quality education and not indoctrinate her into a religious belief system. I say this only because it seems that the "Catholic" schools are pretty common over there, and my experience is limited with them. Do they actually teach and preach? Do they teach evolution? Big Bang? Or do they adapt them to fit their religious beliefs?
From the research that I have done the public schools there are supposed to accommodate the fact that she is not fluent in the local language. Is this true? What are the experiences of others?
Getting a child into school in Hong Kong seems like a very interesting animal, far more complicated even if she was a native born than here in the US.

Thank you cara. Not just for the recommendation, but the insight about the teachings of the school.
I will look into it.
