Hi Oze Kid,

Just wondering, whereabouts are you in Hong Kong?

My daughter's current school has an international stream for K2 and K3 - both running at half day. She learns English and Mandarin at school - split half half.

The school however is located in Tai Po, NT. It's called Anchors Kindergarten and International Nursery.

A lot of their international students are leaving the school to enter P1 at international schools making lots of spaces available for their K3 (international stream).

If interested and if it's close to you, please contact the school on 26644133. It is a fantastic school.

Hi Oze Kid,

My DD's first language was English, now I'm not so sure... which is a good thing!

She didn't have trouble switching between English and Cantonese when she did full day kindy. She was fluent in English so she was fine in the international stream and with the local stream, everybody spoke in Cantonese so she was forced to learn it. She struggled in the first year at pre-nursery but come K1, she was fluent.

It was the best decision we made :-)

We switched her back to international for K2 so that she could prepare for primary education at ESF. She'll be starting ESF in September this year.

I know it can be a pain waiting and waiting for a space to become available at ESF but it may not be all that bad because your daughter will be exposed to Chinese at a local school and she'll be well ahead at ESF when she gets in. Admission into ESF is only a matter of time and being caucasian, I'm sure she'll get in with no problems.

Good luck.
