Has anyone heard whether they were fully subscribed? I've not managed to find any comments re Harrow when googling which I find surprising

It's not surprising since Harrow is a brand new school which is only due to open in August 2012. They 've just completed their recruiting process as for their teachers is concerned. The Head, Head of Dpts, HOuse Master etc..were recruited last spring,

My daughter did an interview this week for primary 1, the interviewers were very friendly and my daughter seemed to really enjoy herself. They said they were interviewing 56 primary 1 kids (2012) this week for 66 places. They will then interview for the empty spots around Feb next year (I think thats what he said). The fees are achievable but the debenture is a 1 off $600 thousand (refundable after 6 to 8 years I can’t remember minus some fees) or a capital levy of $50.000 annually non refundable. Actually we are an average earning family and not a family that will be able to afford the capital or debenture easily. However its reputation in our eyes maybe worth the small mortgage we will take should our daughter get accepted.

All need to remember that the "reputation" Harrow has is in the UK not in HK as it hasn't started operating yet. You are paying for the name of Harrow not its HK reputation. No doubt it will be good but keep that in mind when you are choosing.

If the other Harrow Internationals are anything to go by, it will just be as good as all the other internationals in HK, except it offers boarding....
The way I would sum it up is if prefer like Louis Vuitton, go for Harrow. If you are happy with a good suitcase that does the job, still looks good but costs less, go for a normal international. Harrow is nothing but designer label.

I actually come from Harrow.
The education you will get there will be excellent. However, the experience will be totally different. The children attending Harrow in HK will be predominantly Chinese, be they from HK or the mainland. It will be geared to this demographic and certainly not aimed at expats as it's easy to work out where the money is coming from.
This in effect will not dampen the education of the children attending, in fact I would be very surprised if the students attending HK, did not produce significantly higher results than in the UK.
However, when the demographic of the students is predominantly Chinese, then the the result will not be an international experience.
It will be very different to Harrow, UK.

I am considering it because it is NOT IB and quite frankly IB PYP is just not working for child number 2 (was brilliant for child number 1).
I wonder if I have left my application for grade 6 too late.
Has anyone had a child do the admission test for grade 6? I am so concerned that so many structured fundamentals have been lost with PYP that she may not be able to get down to the task of answering questions in a structured way....too much emphasis has been placed on them being risk takers and having an IB profile and not much on the three R's!

I attended a presentation by the school yesterday evening - there are still places available in most year groups, but not many.
The interview process is actually very relaxed and there is a lot of focus on what the child can offer the school in terms of sports, drama, music, etc. Academics are important, but not everything. Complete fluency in English from Day 1 is also what they are looking for.
Hope this helps.
