Hi all,

We are planning to move back to hkg and have 4 kids age from 7 to 14. We can't afford to send them all to int'l school. Are there many foreigners sending their kids to local school? They don't know any Chinese but they are hkg citizens. Will they be accepted?
Thank you in advance for any advices.

You dont neccessarily send them all to international schools. But there are definitely some government funded schools which Chinese is not a compulsory subject. Your kids can take another language subject instead, such as French.
If you really insist on taking Chinese, I'm sure schools will provide enough support to your kids.
Good luck!

thanks YLKEN.

I'm looking at the primary school in Saikung for the younger 2.
What about secondary schools? are there many that they can go if they don't know Chinese? We will probably live in Sai Kung or Clear water bay.

Sorry to say that apart from international schools, you won't find many schools that can exempt your students from taking Chinese. But, there are still 2 options: elite schools and schools for minorities.
Elite schools, however, are very competitive and you will struggle to find a place for your elder kids. Students in such schools can study Chinese or French.
Schools for minorities doesn't require students to study Chinese even though they also provide Chinese as an elective subject.
You should check out the schools in Tsueng Kwan O. Many schools located in this district which is also close to Sai Kung.
