We are new to having helpers so needed some guidelines. We have allowed for our helper to eat whatever we do w/r to meals. We have not given a special aloowance b/c we didnt want her to waste all the time in the kitchen cooking for us and then herself. But what's the general policy re snacks etc. We are now getting another helper too so just wanted to set things straight going forward. Many thanks.

I think its each to their own. My helpers gets a food allowance but we also buy the food for her every now and then. (A couple packet of noodles is not very much) She always helps herself to whatever is in the cupboards (which is not much) You will find that hopefully you have a great helper who will NOT eat your last chocolate and if there is really something that she wants and it is considered yours then she would ask you out of respect. Most helpers will eat whatever the family eat or left overs. I have never seen so much food being eaten. My helper will not throw out anything.

There is a great book the "helpers helper" which has some great ideas and practical advice on all sorts of stuff. Larger Park n shops stocked it.

They sell the books at some Mannings pharmacies (peak and jardine's lookout) and also at some PNS and Wellcome (repulse bay) there is another one with a plain white front with info on how to motivate your helpers too... interesting points on bonuses etc
