AsiaXPAT to Offer Helper Contract Processing

ORIGINAL POST

We've hired a very experienced woman to handle a new division of business to help employers and helpers process their paperwork.

We are tired of hearing stories of helpers being fleeced for the legal rate by helper agencies and we aim to put a stop to this. All fees charged will be in accordance with the labour department regulations.

We'll have our licence in about one months time and will place a notice on this site when we are ready to start assisting you.

We'll also be approaching the Indonesian consulate to see if they will designate us an authorized agent to handle the processing for Indonesian helpers. As you may be aware, Indonesian helpers are being charged over $10,000 for visa renewals (the legal rate is 10% of a months salary) - guess where much of this 10k goes....

Shared between the agents and the Indonesian officials, I'd say! Thieves, bandits, robbers, thieves, bandits, robbers, thieves, bandits, robbers, thieves, bandits, robbers, thieves, bandits, robbers............................

The problem is that this is a closed shop... we have been told that 'we are not issuing any more licenses'. The HK govt and the ICAC know what is going on here yet they can do nothing because of diplomatic immunity - bust one group and they leave and are replaced by more.

What I think should be done is the govt should tell them that if it doesnt stop then no Indonesians will be allowed to work in HK. That would end it rather quickly eh...

One way to put a stop to the Indonesian maids being ripped off is to ask them what they are paying their agency to process their papers. It should be only 10% of a month's salary but its usually $12000 and up... if they are paying more then get the agencies number and give them hell and threaten to call the labour dept, police and ICAC. This will probably result in a reduced payment of $3000, still illegal but better 12k...

We had an agent in here planning to take an ad with us. She indicated that she was going to charge the helpers 13k for processing... I told her that was not a good idea because if expats find out that she is doing they will call the labour dept. She agreed to a 'special offer' of 7k.... eventually she decided not to advertise with us for fear of getting arrested...

At present the only way to ensure the corruption is kept to a minimum level is to threaten these low-life scum. They understand 'ICAC' and they understand 'Labour Department' so dont be shy - I guarantee you all of the ones who handle Indonesians are ripping the helpers off massively. When you deal with them immediately bring this up and immediately threaten them so they know you mean business. Unlike the consulate they have no diplomatic immunity and they will cower.
