My helper did not take leave before she started working for us; I know she is supposed to take deferred leave and go back to the Philippines within the first year (that is before September).
I've already asked her several times to tell me what is a convenient date so that I can coordinate with our summer plans as well, but she's always very evasive and implied that she really prefers not to go to the Philippines during the summer months. Since it's already late May and the deferred leave is due before the end of September, I'm wondering what would happen if she does not agree to go during the summer (weeks of her choice during the next 4 months). Can deferred leave be postponed, or should I just choose a date myself and get her a ticket?
Any advice is appreciated.

Ask your helper to leave Hong Kong either Macau or China even 1 day only before the visa expired from the date of her leaving arrangement.

how about sending her to somewhere else that PH? maybe she doesnt want to go coz her family would expect gifts?

I would call immigration and ask.
Going to Macau for a day doesn't work anymore. Immigration have clamped down on that practice.

Thank you for the advice.
I hadn't thought of the extra expense of bringing gifts, it might be the real reason behind her reluctance to go. Do employers usually give helpers a bonus (besides paying for the air fare)?

Some employers give bonuses, some don't. We normally give around Christmas or Chinese New Year. However our helper knows she is being rewarded for excellent performance. It is not just a "gift".

Her reluctance to go home could also be because she had already spent the money for her one way ticket home that her previous employer gave and she is aware that you are only responsible for her fare back to hk from the phils.
