Does anyone know of wether or not a FDH can sponsor her daughter as a depedent to live in HK with us? We know her daughter really needs to be with her mum and we are happy to have them all live with us. Have checked the website and nothing there stating FDH can sponsor but will call on Monday. Just thought anyone out there in EXpat land has any experience.

Thanks!

I'm with cara. Nope.

Of course the employer can hire the daughter as a second helper assuming she is of legal age.

I thought any babies born to FDH's in HK had to go back to their own country when they were a few weeks old. Maybe iamcaca. your daughters classmates mother is married to a local, or expat, and has right of abode in HK ie. full residential permit.

HK imm as far as I know only allow people of working age to work as FDH's or in the restaurants, with a sponser and visa etc, and not their under working age dependants, otherwise they would be inundated with applications, then who would educate them, pay for health expences etc? they are not the responsibility of the employer.

My friend is a FDH, she had her baby in HK an immigration granted the baby a visa without the help of the employer , the baby is holding a resident visa, baby needs to stay in HK for 7 years to become a PR..

Spoke to my daughter classmate mom this morning and yes her daughter born in HK.She said her employer help her to sponsor her daughter's visa as well and declare thier financial support to them to immigration. Her daughter's visa is under her domestic visa as well and so whenever she needs to renew hers, she also need to do with her daughter.

Tsimsee, you're friend is wrong.Children of FDH cant seek PR in HK since according to thier birth certificate status " not establish" they need to return to thier parents home country.

iamcaca,i wish i'm wrong but i saw the baby visa , they gave her 1 year visa, and the employer never help them for the processing.immigration never ask anything from the mother's employer..

Not sure about that Tsimsee, its probably same as her parents visa.I agree with Cara most accurate answer is to contact with immigration.
