Hi, My helper left for the philippines on a two week vacation and was suppose to come back on the 29th of October. Two days have gone and still haven't heard from her.
I will contact Immigration on Monday and report her as a missing person to the HK police department. I suspect she was home sick and just decided to stay there. Not texting me or calling me does come as a surprise.
Under these circumstances, could I start processing paperwork for a replacement helper? Just curious as I need a new helper right away.

I would think so. Call immigration and ask.

better report to phil. consulate and labour dept. - you don't want her coming back to you with stories of abuse and neglect
btw. where in phils does she live ie which province? there is a typhoon there now and ferries and flights were cancelled.

Typhoon Miranae has just passed through just north of Manila, which coould have delayed her, but as she has not made contact, you must report thing to the deparments other threads have mentioned.

Hi, She lives in benito soliven, Isabela Province. I heard that a bus fell into a ravine on the 28th which is the day that she was suppose to head back to manila - 24 injured and 10 dead. I'm calling the hospitals and funeral parlor tomorrow. Her flight was scheduled on the 29th. A few days before the typhoon hit, so that should not have delayed her. She did not text - i did receive some calls a few unknown and one with a philippine number but no voice mail. Very strange. She has not contacted her friends either. Very worried.
