Cheap might be tricky. It's not exactly a big route. Try http://www.kayak.com as a starting point. The "cheapest" I get to Kathmandu is USD 981. Ouch.

Ask her which airline is she flying back with the one way ticket she has. Also, see if Air India might have a flights into Kathmandu. It might be routed through Calcutta. They normally have cheap flights.
