Hi! Can anyone give me advice about the employment process here- I have found a domestic helper but she needs to exit before she can start employment with me- how long does this typically take as I need someone 3rd week September urgently!!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated- thanks!

IF she is here and thus can process from here you should be fine. A couple of weeks should do it for processing and a few days out of the country.

Note that she need not go back to her home country. Macau is fine and much cheaper.

Make sure you follow up with immigration and/or agency every few days. Just a call to check status. That way you will know of any issues sooner.

As far as I know if the helper is from Indonesia it will take longer and it is good to check her status in Hong Kong as well as get a health check! I found out that Indonesian helpers can get to HK without a proper health check ! The helper had Hep.C and still manage to get to HK!

As far as I know the health check is the employer's responsibility.

Yup ! So I highly suggest to do one for your own family safety!!!!!

If you do send your helper to macau for a few days, where does she stay? Can't she just exit and enter the same day? how much longer does it take to process an indonesian , what if she already is here and finished her previous contract?

Typically she would stay in a boarding house.

Do we have to pay for the boarding house?

You could, but technically it's her responsibility since she is not working for you yet.
