Hi, I am interested to apply in Hong Kong as a domestic helper. I am in Guangzhou, China. Teaching English Class. I need to look for a regular job because i need to support for my family in the philippines. I took up a caregiver course in the philippines, taking care of the infant, babies, children and elderlies. This includes home management, marketing, household chores and cooking. I am looking forward to hear from you and could help me to work there in Hong Kong. my mobile no.13711764573

I don't think there's any agreement between the respective governments for Indians to be imported to HK to work as domestic helpers. But you're right in saying that there are a lot of Indians (or locals of Indian descent) here in HK as permanent residents. Maybe you could find one from that group who is willing to work as a domestic helper. The Labour Department has a database of locals who have registered as available for such work, and maybe you might be able to strike gold there. Another option would be to check the noticeboards in the supermarkets in and around TST where a lot of people originating on the sub-continent can be found. Or talk to some of your friends who have been here for a while and know the contacts.

There's an Indian family living about 10 floors down from me and they have a helper who appears to also be Indian. So maybe there are a few Indian helpers around and it's just a case of finding them?

You can employ a DH from India itself. That is what I have done. It takes about 6 weeks for the visa processing.

Only thing is you have to teach them from scratch about the jobs here, as although they do DH work in India, they are not used to our equipments...vacuum, mop, necessarily.

It is hard to find a good one from there, but not impossible.

After the torture I have been through recently with my DH here ( not Indian), I am back to getting an Indian one. Anyone will be better that my present one here!

On the Asiaxpat website here, there are a couple of Indian DH's looking for work. You should get in touch with them.

All the best!

There are plenty of Indian helpers on this website. Seach for 'other' nationalities or you will have to trawl through hundreds of Filipinas.

Why would an Indian helper be better or worse thank another one? Hire the individual, not the nationality.

There are Sri Lankan helpers available at some agencies, they would be able to cook Indian food, and possibly understand the same language.
