What is it with the helpers listed on this site? Is it just me or have others had the same problem....I went through the site and made list of prospective helpers and made appointments with them to come for an interview on their off day...Sunday....this was 2 weeks ago and on the Sunday NO SHOW!! i had like 5 candidates and not one showed up or called to say they cudnt make it. Did the same thing this weekend and again 3 helpers and NO SHOW! so annoying! Anyone have any other suggestions to help me look for a helper?

Perhaps you have been blacklisted by the domestic helper community in your building - happens quite a lot.

Sorry Karishma it wasn't meant as a dig, it can happen when helpers are terminated - doesn't matter who's right or wrong but generally helpers will support one another. I think we were black listed by our old helper, we heard some of the stories later, quite shocking and very untrue - lucky for us our old helper was found out and our reputation saved.

The DH section is one of the busiest sections on our site both in terms of visits (5000+/month) and helpers (over 500 new ones/month). Likely the best ones get hired very quickly - and unfortunatley dont tell prospective employers they've found a job...

When hiring office staff we've had a number of candidates simply not show for interviews so I dont think this problem is DH specific...

If you need help with finding a helper from the site, you can contact Evelyn or Michelle - they speak with all the maids when they come in to place and ad so they know which ones will have the skill sets you require - and unlike the maid agencies you may have read about in the paper yesterday, we charge the helpers NOTHING if we place them through our agency service.

Same as Mrs Miggins. Every one of my scheduled interviews showed up. Maybe I was interviewing the ones who couldn't find a job :) What I did though was pre-screen them over the phone. I only offered an in-person interview after being satisfied they were a potentially good fit. Also, I always spent a few minutes describing my own household situation, so they knew what they were interviewing for.

I've had the same problems. I had six no shows one week!!! Not all were from this site and we have been getting one or two turning up, just non were right for our family. I'm on my fourth weekend of interviews. :( It's really getting me down that every weekend I'm cutting my days short to rush home to meet people that don't turn up, despite my calling the same day to confirm with them. I have decided my problem must be where we live... we're in Sai Kung - I've heard other people say that they've had problems getting helpers out here too. I think as a last resort I will put my contact details up in local shops... bit worried about giving my number out on such a large scale though.
