Anybody have any experience to share with hiring a new helper directly without an agent? We used an agent for our first helper but the back ground fees charged to the helper can be considerable (up 15K) and well it just seems it can't be worth that much...

we've never used an agent on the 3 we've had. Have advertised through word of mouth, interviewed, filled in the forms and the new helper does all the neccessary stuff at immigration. To be honest I don't know why you would need to pay such a lot of money to agents when it is so simple to do.

You can pull down the contract on our DH channel (see the link at the top). It takes about 15 minutes to fill in.... your new helper will know where to bring it at the Immigration Dept in Wanchai.
