I have a question regarding the levy tax of HK$ 400/mth..........my helper has been with us for almost two years. We signed the contract in July 2003- the new tax was introduced in October 2003 if I'm not mistaken. If we renew the contract now does it mean we have to pay this tax as well or does it exempt contracts signed before October 2003.

Well you answered your own question. The contract expires now and that is why you are renewing it, right? Yes you have to pay the govt levy.

If you are paying the min. wage, you might need to add $50 to it as well. But check with the ID.
