Hi.

An Indonesian helper I knew was fired for something really trivial. Prior to the termination of her contract, her female employer often throw things at her, pulling her hair, draging her into kitchen by the collar...etc. None of these left any physcial marks and she can't prove anything to the labour dept. of the said abuse.

I was told by an employment agent that because she was terminated, she would have to go back to Indonesia first then pay up around HKD20,000.( to an employment agent.) to get her paper processed from Indonesia.

1. Does any one know whether this is the only way out for terminated contract as Indonesian is concern?

2. Can she just find a job here first then wait for her visa in Indonesia without paying the agency fee?

She could also benefit from talking to a Indonesian support group in HK. Does such group exist?

Any information/suggestion appreciated.
