Can anyone help with how to calculate my helpers pay per day is? She earns $3800 per year. She only started with us in december and immediatley took 15 days holiday not including rest days and public hol. I need to pay her for working 12 days.
I am sure this is simple but I have baby brain so please excuse.
Thanks

3800 per month.
divide by how many work days in the month.
Then you get your daily rate.
Alternatively
3800 x 12
Divide by how many work days in the year.
Then you get your daily rate.

Thanks for that.
So does anyone know how many work days in a year? Do I count the public holidays?

A telephone operator from the Labour Department told me that it's monthly salary (as stated in the contract) devided by 30 days. E.g., $3,400:30=$113.30

I agree with Green, A DH doesn’t work on Sundays so you can’t count those days in the overall calculation. It should be 3800 x 12 divided by 313 (365 minus 52 Sundays) equals 145.68 a day.

Nuri based her equation on $3400. If you use Moppets equation with $3400 you get $130.35 per day. My conundrum: If I earn say $30,000 per month. And I was asked to calculate my daily rate, I would automatically take Sundays off - I am not required to do anything concerning work on a Sunday. BUT as I read it, a DH is allowed 12 hours continuously off - that is, she can leave the house say between 9am and 9pm. But, her whole sunday is not off. Personally, I would do the equation without Sundays (works in the favour of the helper a little) But, I can also see Labour Depts point of view - it is a minimum monthly wage.

I think erring on the side of generosity is not a bad thing when you are talking about 10 HKD...
