One other thing: When she goes home (we are getting her a RT ticket as a gift to see her family - third time in 13 months), do you still pay salary? I paid salary for three weeks off last year - PLUS Christmas bonus. This seems like alot when the ticket is factored in. We also has issues when she did not come back on time last year and we were relying on her to be here.
Yes - I know I don't HAVE to pay salary. Just wondering what other people do when the helper leaves for holiday.

yes, we pay a 13 month bonus during chinese new year.
as well, whenever our helper goes home we still pay her salary. i am not sure if that is the law, but our rationale is: when we go on holidays our companies still pay us.
this business of your helper not coming back when she was expected is really unfortunate, especially since you were probably inconvenienced when she did not return the date you were expecting her. if she does go back, it is not unreasonable for you to ask for flight dates IN ADVANCE, just so you both know when your helper will be returning. i think you show great trust by letting her go again after the inconvenience of last time around.
