Has anyone arranged for a domestic helper to go to the UK to work in a private household. I have very sick family member with 2 small children who needs help around the house and with the children for approx 6 months. I know a very reliable DH who I trust and would love to send her there to help out. According the the British Consulate, this is possible but need to know if anyone has done this and any obstacles/information would be welcomed.

A decade ago my wife took a Philippine DH to the UK when we relocated there. At that time the visa condition was that the DH was a personal dependent could not seek alternative employment until she acquired PR.
3 years ago, after another stint in HK, we took a Thai DH to the UK. The visa allowed the DH to change employer at any time.
I doubt that I will take a DH back to the UK after my current stint in HK. I don't think it is worthwile taking DH's to the UK anymore. Just hire locally in the UK.

You can do this, there are many precedents for this. Call the Consulate and they will give you the forms. HOwever be aware that many maids will be loyal to you until they arrive, then do a runner. This happened to my friend who took two maids back to the UK, they lasted 6 weeks then fled. The police stated this was very normal and amogst the flock of illegal immigrants in the UK, two maids were not a priority. He never saw the maids again ...
