I hired her in October and waited two months for her...after a week of arrival, she asked me if I can sponsor her two kids (2, 4) to come to Hong Kong. She wants me to pay for their tickets and let them stay at my house (I have two kids almost 2, 4, and a third due this summer). Is she crazy? All she talks about is her kids...and it's driving me nuts. I said, "how can they come?" and she said, "if you sponsor them, they will get a visa...that is my dream for them." What should I do???

Just decline on purely practical reasons 1. no where for them to sleep, play or store their things if she has regular sized helper accomodation, 2. no suitable schooling options 3. Who is going to pay for the tickets back and forth to home when she must exit for visa reasons or because of termination (or are you going to babysit!), 4. who pays their medical expenses, She is living in fairyland if she thinks she could work effectively for your family and look after her own children safely- I don't know of anyone who gets to take their kids to work with them. Added to the fact that I am sure that she does not earn enough to sponser a dependent visa. If she persists in bringing this up after a serious talk about the impracticalities/impossibilities of it then she is probably not the right candidate for the job. Trying to make you feel guilty?? Hard as it may be to leave your kids behind to work overseas - she has to face the facts that the sacrifice is so that she can provide for them financially or return home and struggle on that way.

simply say"no "to her.How could she ask you that?if she means she want her children to come for a visit, yes she can do that but she can rent a flat for thier own during the visit, she needs to take all the responsibility (expenses)during her childrens visit, but I think they can only stay for 14 days.

My jaw would have hit the floor. No way. Like NO WAY! I cant imagine a helper asking that. You must be a very nice and approachable person for her to feel comfortable asking. She may be trying to make you pity her (your kids being the same age and all of that). Give us an update! Im dying to know what you told her!!
