I'll be going back to Sydney in April for 2 weeks and would like to send my helper back to her family for 2 weeks also.
She said she prefers Phillipine Airlines but I'm having a headache with that airline. I can't book online because I'm not the one flying. And they want me to go to TST to "line up" to purchase the ticket. I have a baby at home, work and don't really have the time to go all the way to TST Mon-Sat. I live in Sheung Shui. My agent charges a few hundred more if I go down that route. My other option is Cebu Pacific but what are your thoughts on that one?

I say do what's easiest for you. As long as she gets there, that's you're only concern.

Thank you both for your input.
I'll go book now :-)

Cebu Pacific is even more of a nightmare to buy tickets from. Zuji no longer sells their tickets. By the time I managed to find their phone number, the fare I was looking at disappeared. Anyway, I would just buy a ticket from a travel agent for a few hundred more (not worth the headache). Or, if she is only going to Manila, Cathay Pacific has special helper fares that are available online. It offers extra baggage allowance and you can also get 2000 bonus AsiaMiles if booked online. Cathay is a far better airline than PAL. No comparison.

I just booked my DH on Cebu Pacific for 1350/- + taxes. Isnt that a good deal? I have no idea really!

Spare rib HK, yes that was a very good deal!
In Manila, I know they have a year-long promo with Cebu Pacific for Mla-HK-Mla, and it's close to the cost of your package (between 1500-1600HKD).

I had an easy time booking on-line with Cebu Pacific for my helper who had to go home due to a family emergency. I booked her a few hours before her flight was scheduled to leave(on a Sunday at that). Printed out the e-tickets and that was it. Total was HKD1475.00 (including taxes). Philippines Airlines only allows online booking for flights at least 3 days in advance.
You should decide on which airline you should send her on, not her. Its a free trip, she shouldn't complain.
Monster, Cebu Pac and Cathay Pac land in the old airport while Philippine Airlines land in the new airport. Connecting domestic flights have to be taken at another airport, so whichever airline you go with, they have to transfer airports, so just go for the cheapest one. All airports are in the same general area (they all land in the same airfield, just different terminals).

pzam, which website did you book through? The last I checked, you can't buy tickets through their website.

pzam, thanks. looks like they finally updated their site to allow the hong kong ticket purchase. it didn't last month and caused me major headaches after zuji stopped issuing cebu pacific tickets and cebu pacific didn't answer their phones

thanks pzam. am hoping some special deals will come up, including internal flight which dont leave her hanging around manila all night.

Monster, my suggestion is to look at the domestic flight schedules and book a HK-Mnl ticket that will allow her to make that flight. Check out Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines for their domestic flight schedules. I don't think the other domestic airlines have online booking/payment so stick to either PAL or Cebu Pac.

I issued the Cebu Pac from a travel agent for the domestic helper only at $946 (include tax and fuel charges). So who need the air ticket can check with any travel agent for the domestic helper fare. (Cathay, Phil, and had this kind of fares)

Thanks to all for your replies. I've booked her ticket at a cost of HK$1775, $300 more than pzam but I've booked it in the peak season - Easter.

And since she says that Phillipines Airlines would have been easier for her because it is in the new airport, do I still need to give her cab fare to get from the old airport to the city?

cab fares are cheap in the Philippines. from the new airport to the domestic airport should cost no more than HKD10. But then again, you are gifting her this flight home so you are not obliged in any way to pay for cab fare. I think the old airport is nearer the domestic airport. What's the domestic airline she's taking to get to her home province?
