renewing contract

I am planning on renewing my helper's contract. Does anyone know what the process is? Is it difficult and time consuming?

Would it be better just to ask an agent to take care of it?

What is the cost of doing it ourselves compared to using an agent?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks all...

It is easy as pie and you're helper can do almost all of the legwork. You will need to fill in the contract and have her submit the information requested by immigration.

Thanks so far for the replies. I am glad to hear that the process is not too hard.

Is there a site that I can go to that will show me the step by step on how to do it?

Like where to get forms, what she has to bring, how early we have to do it... etc.

Her contract is due June 06.

Thanks...

I believe she cannot submit until one month before but she can go collect the contract packet from immigration any time. The packet includes all the forms and instructions. The only thing (from memory) that may not be covered is that you will need to write a letter asking for them to expedite the application and if you prefer not to have your helper go home at that time a request to defer her return home for one year (maximum allowed). These letters are from you to the director of immigration and just need the basic request and any supporting reasons.

So where do I get the forms for renewal? Is there a site somewhere that I can read up on what forms we need to fill out and what to bring and where to bring it to?

Send your helper to immigration. She will know what to get (there is one complete packet) and where to go. You will have to fill out three items: 1. Your support letter 2. The contracts (can copy old ones except for possible minimum wage increase) 3. The application for sponsorship which is very easy. Then you will have to provide supporting info (like salary proof) for which the packet will have a handy check list. Then you send your helper 1. to her consulate to get stamps then to immigration to submit and process. It is that easy. The helpers are quite aware of how it all works as well.

Alternatively you could use an agent, but for local hire or renewal it really is not necessary.
